Gulf of Orosei

The Gulf of Orosei is an inlet located along the central eastern coast of Sardinia. It takes its name from Orosei, a town in the province of Nuoro located 2 km from the coast in the Cedrino river valley, and about 7 km from Irgoli.

the northern part, low to the sea, is made up of pine forests, long beaches and coastal dunes that extend up to its northern limit, i.e. Cape Comino, and the southern part, made up of the terminal part of the Supramonte plateau, also called Supramonte marino , which extends up to the head of Monte Santu.
For more than 40 km this stretch of very high coast is characterized by imposing limestone bastions covered by centuries-old woods made up of lush and varied Mediterranean scrub. Remaining inaccessible by land for centuries, it is made up of characteristic sandy beaches surrounded by vertical limestone walls, cut by deep gorges dug by ancient rivers which have now disappeared or been swallowed up by the karst plateau above. Cala Luna, Cala Goloritze, Cala Mariolu or Ispulighidine.
You can visit these splendid locations starting from the Marina di Orosei with dinghies or boats that do mini cruises throughout the gulf every day.
